I am an experienced book editor who honed my editorial skills working for 18 years at imprints of Penguin Random House in New York, most recently as Executive Editor at Blue Rider Press and Plume. I loved being part of the professional community that shaped what people read, but what I relish about being an editor is actually sitting down with a manuscript and partnering with an author to bring their vision to the page.

As a freelance editor, I collaborate intimately with writers so that I understand what you hope readers will take away from your writing—whether your goal is to inform, instruct, entertain, or provoke. Nothing satisfies me more than getting inside the mind of an author as we work together. I learn from every writer I work with, and in return, I act as writing coach, story architect, psychologist, curious reader, and prose wrangler.

With nine New York Times bestsellers and nine national bestsellers on my list, what I’m proudest of is that my books have heart. I gravitate towards projects that have a strong voice and come at the world from a new and compelling angle. I specialize in narrative non-fiction—I have a particular interest in memoir— pop culture, humor, and practical non-fiction. Titles I’ve worked on include #IMOMSOHARD by Kristin Hensley and Jen Smedley, Keep it Moving by Twyla Tharp, No Pain, No Gaines, by Chip Gaines, Everybody Fights by Kim and Penn Holderness, Stir by Jessica Fechtor, The Bus by Pittsburgh Steeler Jerome Bettis, The New Old Me by Meredith Maran, Everything You Ever Wanted by Jillian Lauren, How to Survive the End of the World as We Know It by Jim Rawles, The Instant Economist by Timothy Taylor, and Yoga Rx by Larry Payne and Dr. Richard Usatine.
